Jute is a long, soft, shiny vegetable fibre that is composed primarily of the plant materials cellulose and lignin. It falls into the bast fibre category (fibre collected from bast, the phloem of the plant, sometimes called the "skin") along with kenaf, industrial hemp, flax (linen), ramie (nettle), etc.
Our Jute Handspun is tough and highly textured. It is a single-ply yarn in a natural golden brown or olive green colour that is suitable for weaving (including basket weaving), knitting or crocheting.
The price varies by weight. 100g is approximately 155m in length.
